VERY GOOD, ANTIQUE ENGLISH SILVER CASED FUSEE POCKET WATCH, J. R & Wm LAING, GLASGOW c1889. Antique, Victorian gentleman's sterling silver cased, fusee Pocket Watch by J. Laing, 53 & 55 Brunswick Street, Glasgow. This watch is a good example, in nice condition and in working order.
The English made, sterling silver case is in good condition. It has full English hallmarks for sterling silver.
The case maker's mark "RJP" for Robert John Pike (casemaker), the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Leopard's Head London town mark and the date letter "o" for 1889/90. The rear of the case with engine turned engraving and a central cartouche that is free of initials. He white enamel dial is in very good condition.It has the hours in Roman numerals and is signed by the maker. The good quality fusee movement is signed. And has the serial number 2722. The watch measures 49mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown). Overall, this is a good example, it would make a lovely addition to any collection.
