A Large and Imposing Victorian Sterling Silver Cairngorm Traditional Brooch or Shawl Pin. The central faceted Citrine (commonly known as a Cairngorm stone) is held in a typical of the period raised claw setting and surrounded by a silver disc engraved with thistles. The strong pin fastens with a simple C fitting, which is also typical of the period. It and has a small provincial silver mark possibly GU? And something else which has been stamped over by a'Guaranteed Made in Scotland'.
The brooch measures 6.5cms in diameter (over two and a half inch wide) with a 3cm wide Cairngorm! It weighs 35.7grams and is in excellent condition. A lovely example of it's kind.
