The vibrant colored stones, which vary in shape, include burnt orange jasper, dark green bloodstone and banded greyish blue Montrose agate which is sourced from Scotland's Montrose coastline. The stone segments are all strategically placed into the design with a lovely hand-engraved pattern surrounding the stones. The reverse is smoothly polished, and an original good-sized tapered bail attaches to the top where a chain of your choice suspend from.
No stamps are sighted to the piece, which is typical of 19th century Scottish pebble jewellery, however tests indicate sterling silver. The overall condition of the cross pendant is very good. Besides normal surface wear and natural patina, the piece presents in immaculate condition for the century + age!
The agate and jasper stones are in great condition with no major chips or cracks, although worth a mention is a two tiny nicks to the centre jasper stones which are just visible at close view. A superb antique cross pendant!
